A hunter was rescued on Wednesday after being lost in the Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve.
The man was out with his four dogs and called his girlfriend to say he was in trouble. She called dispatch and told operators he felt “like he was walking in circles and he was out of water” and had a medical condition, according to the press release from the Hawaii Fire Department.
The call came in about sunset and searchers were on scene by 6:46 p.m. and began a search “for approximately six hours through the dense forest” before locating the uninjured man.
All units were back in quarters by 3:42 a.m.
